お久しぶりです。Mr.ノーズです。

2026年6月24日～26日の3日間、タイ・バンコクの「IMPACT Muang Thong Thani」にて開催された「Thailand Safe@Work #38」に、弊社代理店であるASIA KENDYが出展し、私もサポートとして参加してまいりました。

ASIA KENDYブースでは、前回同様に消臭剤「エアーサーバー®」や体験キットを前面に展示し、多くの来場者の方々にご覧いただきました。

会期前日の設営時には気付かなかったのですが、展示会が始まってみると、私たちのブース周辺が臭気関連企業に囲まれていることに驚きました。ASIA KENDYブースの右隣と正面には電子鼻（E-nose）センサーを取り扱う企業が出展しており、さらに左側の二つ隣には、においを含むガスセンサーを扱う企業が出展していました。

この展示会は「労働安全」をテーマとして開催されていますが、その労働安全の対象として「におい」に対する関心が高まっていることを強く感じました。ASIA KENDYブースだけでなく、周辺のセンサー関連企業にも多くの来場者が訪れ、活発な情報交換が行われていました。

私たちは人間の鼻（嗅覚）を用いた測定手法であるTOB法や、その測定に使用する器材・サンプリングバッグなどを提供しています。そのため、センサー技術の発展は、ある意味で私たちの事業の根幹に関わるテーマでもあります。

例えば、センサー技術がさらに進化すれば、人間の嗅覚では実現できない24時間365日の連続監視が可能となり、取得したデータを遠隔地からでも監視・運用することもできます。

一方で、センサーが「においの強さ」や「快・不快」といった人間の感覚に近い評価を行うためには、現場ごとの学習データが必要です。その基準となるデータを作り出しているのは、現時点では人間の嗅覚による評価だけです。

つまり現在は、「嗅覚測定技術」と「センサー技術」がお互い競合する存在ではなく、それぞれの強みを活かしながら相互に補完し合う関係にあると言えるでしょう。

私たちも「嗅覚測定」という枠にとらわれることなく、新しい技術や考え方から学び、それぞれの長所を取り入れながら日々研鑽を重ねていきたいと思います。

It has become quite an irregular blog these days…

Hello again, this is Mr.Noose.

From June 24 to June 26, 2026, our distributor, ASIA KENDY, exhibited at Thailand Safe@Work #38, held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand. I also attended the event to provide support and assistance.

As in previous exhibitions, the ASIA KENDY booth prominently featured Air Server® deodorizing products and demonstration kits, allowing visitors to experience their effectiveness firsthand.

During the booth setup on the day before the exhibition opened, I did not realize it at the time, but once the event began, I was surprised to find that our booth was surrounded by companies related to odor monitoring and sensing technologies. The booths immediately to our right and directly across from us were occupied by companies specializing in electronic nose (E-nose) sensors, while another company exhibiting gas-sensing technologies, including odor detection, was located two booths to our left.

Although Thailand Safe@Work focuses on occupational health and safety, it was evident that odor management is becoming an increasingly important aspect of workplace safety. Not only did the ASIA KENDY booth attract significant interest, but many visitors also stopped by the neighboring sensor technology exhibitors, creating a lively environment for discussion and information exchange.

Our company provides odor measurement services based on the human sense of smell, including the Triangle Odor Bag (TOB) Method, as well as the equipment and sampling bags required for such measurements. For this reason, advances in sensor technology have the potential to influence a core area of our business.

For example, modern sensors can perform continuous monitoring around the clock—something that is impossible for human assessors—and can transmit data for remote monitoring and operational management in real time.

However, for sensors to evaluate characteristics such as odor intensity, pleasantness, or unpleasantness in a manner comparable to human perception, they must first be trained using site-specific data. At present, the foundation for that training data still comes from evaluations conducted using the human sense of smell.

In other words, odor measurement by human olfaction and sensor technology are not competing approaches. Rather, they complement one another, each providing strengths that the other cannot fully replace.

As professionals in the field of odor assessment, we believe it is important not to limit ourselves solely to traditional olfactory measurement methods. Instead, we should continue learning from emerging technologies, adopting their strengths where appropriate, and striving to improve our expertise every day.
